A Heart-Warming Video!

This is a video of one of a homeless in Santa Barbara and his pets. They walk State Street every week for donations. The animals are pretty well fed and are mellow. They are a family. The man who owns them rigged a harness up for his cat so she wouldn't have to walk so much (like the dog and himself). At some juncture the rat came along, and so no one wanted to eat anyone else, the rat started riding with the cat and often, on the cat. The dog will stand all day and let you talk to him and admire him for a few chin scratches. The mayor of Santa Barbara filmed this clip and sent it out as a Christmas card.

I am so grateful to DTM Michael Rodgrigues for sending me the above youtube. I love watching movies on animals because ever so often, we can learn some lessons from our four legged friends.

The above video immediately brings to mind the countless articles we have read in the papers about siblings suing one another, neighbours quarreling and taking revenge on each other, etc.

The Mayor of Santa Barbara was right. If the dog, cat and rat could show the world they could live in harmony with their owner, why can't we?

Hence, before we utter those hurtful words to others; before we think of taking revenge to hit back, let us remember this little tower of joy :- the cat riding on the gentle giant of a dog, and the trusting white rat seeking solace and refuge on the back of a cat! It is heartwarming to see the cat licking clean the dog while riding on its back. The cat is like saying, "You lick my back; I lick your back".

Cheers to great potential peace and harmony on earth!
