A High Standard....

The contest participants - everyone's a winner!

The enthusiastic audience!

I had invited my tenant Ashok Kumar Shaw and his good friend, Jasmin, to attend our Division U contest. This was the first experience for them, and they were spellbound by the high standard of delivery from all the contestants. They realised that it was a great afternoon to spend for they had learnt so much within 3 hours! Now they will be enrolling as members in our Dennis Wee Group Toastmasters' Club.

Indeed every contestant was a winner. The judges must have had a hard time to select the champions! Barry Tan, DTM, was the champion in both the International Speech and Table Topics Contest. Well done, Barry! Keep up your excellent performance. I would say that Barry has been a toastmaster who is a role model for many. At 22, he has already obtained his DTM title, the highest from Toastmasters' International. He has proven that with excellent time management, he coud juggle the demands of a medical student as well as an outstanding toastmaster who completed his 40 projects and leadership requirements within 2 years.

I have also heard the contestants in other divisions. I would say that each year, the standard gets higher and higher as the contestants get more and more proficient.

I am looking forward to the District 80 International Speech and Table Topics Contest at Suntec City Convention Hall on 25th May! It will be an exciting contest with champions from Singapore, Hongkong, Macau and Thailand!

Cheers to greater speeches!
